NH Business in the Arts Award

Atlantic Media was one of four companies to receive a 2008 Business in the Arts Award at a gala evening presentation by the New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts on May 12 in Manchester, NH. Concord Hospital, Mascoma Savings Bank and Bresette + Company were the other three businesses announced as the winners. Patrick Duffy received the Leadership Award for his success in leading the grand expansion of the Currier Museum of Art. More than 350 guests were in attendance including the Governor and Dr. Lynch.

The winners were applauded for their outstanding support of the arts through sponsorships, staff involvement, project assistance and donated services to the arts in their communities and statewide.

Atlantic Media, a film and video production company located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire was cited for its support and promotion of the creative economy, including production of in-kind promotional video for The Music Hall, supporting cultural exchanges between New Hampshire and Ghana, West Africa, and serving on the boards of various cultural, governmental and community organizations.

The Principals of Atlantic Media understand that the arts are an essential part of community and an integral part of the expanding creative economy. “Atlantic Media has generously supported The Music Hall, producing in-kind, monthly Film Pre-Shows to highlight upcoming Music Hall films and live performances. The Music Hall has experienced tremendous growth in attendance at both live events and films, which we attribute to the work of Atlantic Media,” said Kathleen Soldati, Director of Marketing for The Music Hall.

“We’re so thrilled to have received this award,” said Nancy Beach, Producer at Atlantic Media, “to be recognized for what we do means so much to us. We are huge advocates of the arts and truly believe that even small companies can and should give back.”

Each of the four winners received a framed painting by nationally known New Hampshire artist, Clifford Smith.

Virginia Prescott, host of the NH Public Radio show, “Word of Mouth” was the master of ceremonies for the festivities. The evening’s performance showcase featured New Hampshire’s arts presence on the national stage with the Nashua Symphony Chorus, NH Poetry Slam Team, NH Theatre Project’s “The Primary, Primary”, and best-selling author and illustrator Tomie dePaola.
